A recent visit to the small hill side town of Luang Prabang in North central Laos. Has rekindled some thoughts that I’ve had for a while, in relation to my view that many of the worlds UNESCO sites are suffering from the modern syndrome of ‘Disneyfication’.
Another image captured during my visit to Cambodia. The Angkor Wat complex was a photographers dream, so if you visit make sure you bring plenty of memory cards with you.
Central Moscow has some amazing sights, with many situated around the UNESCO listed Red Square area. This image shows St Basil’s Cathedral, the walls of the Kremlin and Lenin’s Tomb.
The UNESCO listed citadel of Arg-e Bam in south eastern Iran was all but destroyed during a massive earthquake that hit the town in 2003.
An image taken back in 1993 when I trekked Peru’s famous Inca Trail. The children would constantly keep saying ‘Dolce Dolce’ meaning sweet. Please give me a sweet. As you can tell by the look on their faces. I refused.

21 new sites have been added to the UNESCO World Heritage list, after the conclusion of the 34th session of the World Heritage Committee meeting, held in Brasilia. The total number of sites is now 911.
